Churnet valley

Had a wonderful few days here, truly blessed by glorious weather.
went midweek, but luckily the steam train was running on the wednesday.only 3 stations, but beautiful countryside.
The stations are really well cared for,and all the staff and volunteers so friendly.
Right next to the railway is a river and a canal,I love walking by canals as they're flat!!about 2-3 mile walk from the campsite was the most wonderful pub,The Black Lion, which overlooked Consall station as well as the river and canal.Lots of real ale and cider as well as incredible lunches!I had a cheese salad baguette and had to take half home as it was so huge!
All in all a wonderful short break, and only an hour or so from home, this weekend we're off to suffolk which is considerably further!

Nelly

Thought I'd pop up some photo's of Nelly the campervan.
Shes a 2002 eldiss van with a peugot boxer engine.I would've loved something like an old VW van,but this is really a home away from home with a toilet and shower and brilliant kitchen.
Hoping to style her in a vintage way however,as you can see there's a bit of floral frippary courtesy of Cath K,and finally found something to do with all the bits of crocet practice too small for anywhere else!!the interior is navy and mustard(!)and not quite to my taste!!
well off now to browse and book a couple of campsites for the summer!

1940's weekend

Had a great day out in the van (Nelly!) at the Churnet valley railway near Stoke on Trent,as they were having a 40's weekend which I love and the boys were more than happy to drool over the steam trains! It was also Lily our new puppy's first public outing, and she loved all the people who wanted to say 'hello'. Can't wait to go back to this beautiful pocket of England, there is a campsite close y which i think we need to try. All in all alovely day out and we tied it in with collecting our eldest daughter from uni for the Easter hols :)
